Margaret Johnson has been the principal at Ocean Beach Elementary for four years. Prior to that she was the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development for the Little Lake School District and was a principal at both Lakeview and Paddison Schools. She has taught kindergarten through six grade students and served as a Mentor Teacher for Staff Development and a Curriculum and Staff Development Specialist in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. She  received the Celebrate Literacy Award from the East San Gabriel Valley Reading Council, and was the Area 9 Director for the California Reading Association.  Margaret received two Valley Forge Freedom Awards for Social Studies Curriculum and Illustration.   Her illustrations and teaching strategies were featured in Activities and Strategies for Helping Young Children Learn. 

Margaret earned degrees from UCLA, California  State University Long Beach, Azusa Pacific University and California State Fullerton. She attended the California Writing Project and has served as a writing consultant throughout California. In addition to teaching, she  worked as an educational consultant in writing for IBM.

Margaret believes passionately in public education and is committed to doing everything in her power to provide an excellent learning environment for our children. She has a deep love of the arts and believes they play a crucial role for our students.
